Brief Summary of Chapter 15
Page Number
Afterword 2016
This chapter explains that the book was written in 2016 during a very contentious presidential election. Racism was part of the discussion about the campaigns. This chapter gives examples of racism in past elections and claims that the framework of understanding racism presented in the book is helpful in understanding the use of race in presidential elections. The claim is made that both Republicans and Democrats in 2016 and previous elections have used race as a strategy to win elections. Only Rev. Jesse Jackson in 1988 has promoted a vision for moving beyond racism as part of a campaign for president.
